If you're thinking about starting your own home-based business, you might consider a service business. Services businesses have become a popular option for moms wanting a flexible opportunity that pays well.
Yesterday, I wrote about one such business: pet sitting. But I wanted to share an interesting article at SignOnSanDiego.com. It's about the growing popularity of home-based concierge or errand services. If you're contemplating starting your own concierge service, you will find this article quite helpful and informative. Check it out!

Very interesting and informative blog - I'll check back again!
Thanks!!
I think it is a very useful service, especially for the elderly. I know of someone whose sole business is driving elderly folk to and from doctors appointments. So why not extend the service to running a few errands for them. I went through and read the full article and was surprised by the number of negative comments about the service offered.
As the owner of an errand and concierge service for the past ten years, I have found this business to be very rewarding. It has allowed me to not only help others, but to be able to be there for my three children as they have been growing up.
I also help others get started in this industry with a book that I have written. It can be found on my website at www.angelatyourservice.com.
A friend of mine in Cleveland runs a Concierge service and is quite succesful at it. The biggest task in starting up any business is advertising and networking.
I think you have to pick your clients and target market very carefully for concierge services, or you'll find you're simply getting paid too little for your time.
This is a relatively low skill job, so competition will be high.
I feel like the hardest part about this would be gathering clients. It can be a very competitive business.
